You need to evaluate the error so that you could identify the reason. For this purpose you should change your browser first. If you are trying to open some web pages in Google Chrome, you should try to open the same pages in another browser. If the problem persists, it means you need to take some further steps to fix it.
Another step you need to take is to connect another device with the same internet connection. It will show you that there is no hardware issue involved in it.
You should also try to connect the same device by using another internet connection so that you could identify the actual cause behind the scene. When you are sure about the error that is still persisting, you can follow the below mentioned methods to fix it.
Flush DNS (Most Working Solution)
A greatly effective method to get rid of this error is to “Flush the DNS” by using your command prompt.
Just go to Home Screen of your Windows and press Win+R keys to open the Run box.
Now you will see Command Prompt screen where you have to type the first command “ipconfig /flushdns” and press “Enter” key. Now type the second command “ipconfig /release” and press “Enter”. Now type the third command “ipconfig /renew” and press “Enter”. Now exit from the command prompt and that’s all.
Now just reboot your system. Yahoo! Your problem is resolved and you are once again your internet is working properly.
For Broadband Users
If you are a broadband user and you are using a router to access internet, my advice to you is to change the settings of your device because often there can occur a minor issue with your router’s software and resetting your device can resolve this issue. You do not need any special techniques to reset your router. Just observe the backside of your router. You will see a reset button at the backside of the device.
Press and keep holding it for about five seconds and then release. It will reset the router. Once you reboot your computer, it will be connected.
Delete Unnecessary Antivirus Programs
If you get this error, you need to check whether you are using one or more Antivirus programs? If there are more than one Antivirus programs, it may be the reason of this issue because there may be a compatibility issue between your PC and the Antivirus software. So, what you need to do is to keep only one security program and delete all others. Now restart your system and that’s it.
For Windows 8 and 8.1 Users
If you are not aware of using cmd.exe command properly and it seems to you an uphill task, there is another very easy solution for you. You can use “Network Troubleshooter” to fix this problem automatically.
Just open the “Start” screen. Move the cursor of your mouse to the top right corner of the screen and hover there until there appear the search box.
Type “Network Troubleshooter” in the search box and press “Enter”. Now the troubleshooter will appear on the screen. Just follow the instructions appearing on your screen to resolve this error.
Use Google’s Free DNS Servers
If you are still having the same DNS Server Unavailable issue, you need to change your DNS servers. Use Google’s free DNS Servers to get rid of this problem.
Now check the radio button “Use the Following DNS Server addresses”. In the box before “Preferred DNS server, you should add 8. 8. 8. 8 and in the Alternate DNS server you should type 8. 8. 4. 4 and click “OK” to save these DNS servers.
Now, you will be using faster DNS servers and there will be no more issues now.
Q: I read on a website that if I disable IPV6, it will resolve the issue instead of using Google’s DNS servers. How far it is true?
Ans: No, there is no use of disabling IPV6. If Google’s DNS servers do not fix this issue, you can use Method # 1 to flush the DNS. It is highly effective.
Q: Is there any other DNS servers than those of Google’s?
Ans: Yes! If you do not want to use Google’s DNS servers, you can use OpenDNS servers 126.96.36.199 in “Preferred DNS Server and 188.8.131.52 in “Alternative DNS Server box.
Q: I’m having “DNS server not responding” error, how can I fix it?
Ans: Basically it’s the same error like the one I explained above so following the above methods can resolve this issue.
